External Vice President of Statewide Affairs Office: Statewide Policy Analyst


Advisor to the EVPSA and Organizing Directors for statewide legislation. Act as a think tank for statewide policy and strategy. Release weekly policy reports including updates and recommendations to the EVPSA office and will publish public updates about statewide issues pertinent to UC students.

The official duties of the Statewide Policy Analyst are:

  1. Remain thoroughly informed on all relevant proceedings, legislation, and policy related to the work of the EVPSA office. This includes but is not limited to: California State Senate and Assembly, UC Regents, and the UC Office of the President.
  2. Be responsible for producing a weekly policy update to the EVPSA and office staff in the form of both press clips as well as a brief.
  3. Work in partnership with the EVPSA and senate to pass resolutions related to statewide issues.
  4. Be responsible for any fellows, and conduct a weekly statewide policy advising staff meeting.
  5. Respond to staff inquiries in a timely manner.
  6. Report to senate a minimum of two (2) times per quarter.
  7. Serve three (3) office hours per week devoted to research.
  8. Attend all EVPSA staff meetings and quarterly retreats.
  9. Serve a term of one (1) academic year.
