» Isla Vista Tenants Union (IVTU) Openings: 7

Mission:The Isla Vista Tenants Union (IVTU) is an organization serving the interests of Isla Vista tenants. We recognize the diversity of our community, and we strive to meet the different needs of our members while uniting our common interests as tenants. We educate tenants on their rights and responsibilities, and we act as a resource when problems occur. We believe people should live without the suffering that arises from discrimination, retaliation, or neglect. We reach out to property managers, the University, elected officials, local groups and individuals to realize our vision and address pressing tenant issues. In providing a service to the tenants of Isla Vista, we also hope to build a united, educated, and proactive community.

Postion: Vice Chairperson

Description: 1) Assist the IVTU Chairperson in ensuring that IVTU Board projects progress efficiently and successfully. 2) Resume the Chairperson’s responsibilities in leading meetings and all other important IVTU business affairs due to Chairperson’s absence. 3) Resume the Chairperson’s responsibilities in leading meetings and all other important IVTU business affairs due to Chairperson’s absence. 4) Serve as a liaison between IVTU and other organizations. Ensure highly productive relationships and partnerships. 5) Lead and oversee the implementation of the IVTU’s long and short-term plans in accordance with its strategy. 6) Report and share information with the board to ensure they are kept fully informed on the condition of the organization and important factors influencing it. 7) Identify and lead new business opportunities that advance the mission of IVTU.

Postion: Human Resource Director

Description: 1) Review and make recommendations to IVTU the Board for improvement of the Manual’s policies, procedures, and practices. 2) Coordinate event staffing for IVTU events and regularly update the IVTU and A.S. event-calendars. 3) Organize and participate in staff development for the IVTU through retreats, training, travel, and educational opportunities. 4) Community outreach to find volunteers as well as provide training and orientation for volunteers. 5) Recruit and match new talent to organizational needs and opportunities.

Postion: Chairperson

Description: 1) Attend, facilitate, and set the agenda for weekly IVTU Board meetings. 2) Ensure that IVTU Board projects progress efficiently and successfully. Maintain weekly checkins with members on projects and delegate tasks for project completion. Implement a method to track projects. 3) Lead the completion of the budget package for the following year. 4) Facilitate the nomination and election of the officers for the following year. 5) Ensure that University and Associated Students policies and procedures are followed. 6) Determine, with guidance from the IVTU advisor, the eligibility of IVTU officers applying for honoraria. 7) Lead, in conjunction with the Board, the development of the IVTU’s strategy. Frequently set goals and delegate tasks to progress this grand strategy. 8) Ensure effective internal controls and management information systems are up to date including but not limited to IVTU Legal Code, Manual, meeting minutes, group communications, and task delegation. 9) Attend Pardall Center Governance meetings or appoint someone to attend.

Postion: Finance Director

Description: 1) Analyze and present financial reports in an accurate and timely manner; oversee all financial, project/program and sponsorship accounting. 2) Regularly assess all IVTU’s financial plans, contracts, sponsorships, and potential investments; monitor progress and keep the Board informed of the organization’s financial status. 3) Advise on and execute the Boards’ financial decisions. Update and implement all necessary business policies and accounting practices. 4) Improve the finance department’s overall policy and procedures in the IVTU Manual. 5) Create and maintain a strong relationship with A.S. Assistant Director for Finance and Budgets. Assist other Board members with completion of financial transactions.

Postion: Outreach Director

Description: 1) Implement social media strategies in partnership with the Marketing Director and grow online supporter base and traffic. Publish articles, videos, and photography on IVTU website and Facebook, Instagram and other media outlets and coordinate with the marketing director. 2) Produce the IVTU Newsletter and ensure it is published on a regular basis. Coordinate with marketing director. 3) Manage relationships with the press and media outlets. Maintain a consistent IVTU image throughout all communication. 4) Establish and maintain a highly productive relationship with the Isla Vista community. Attend at least one (1) Isla Vista Community Network meeting per quarter. Attend other external meetings within or concerning the Isla Vista community as frequently as possible. 5) Develop and implement educational and outreach campaigns. Deliver marketing and communications strategies for the organization.

Postion: Director of SBCC Relations

Description: 1) Direct SBCC students to resources available to them in Isla Vista 2) Serves as a liaison between IVTU and SBCC Housing organizations 3) Execute housing campaigns relevant to SBCC students living in Isla Vista 4) Work to identify and report issues specific to SBCC students and create solutions to address these issues 5) Establish and maintain relations between UCSB, IV, and SBCC organization pertaining to housing

Postion: Community Resident Director

Description: 1) Identify issues faced by community members and create solutions to address the problems 2) Ensure that broader IV community is represented in IVTU decision making 3) Consistently hold office hours in open community space and provide resources to community members 4) Make sure that all IVTU events are all inclusive - making sure that translation services are available 5) Receive training from IVTU caseworker and provide basic services to broader community in non-legal matter

» Legal Resource Center Openings: 1

Mission:The AS Legal Resource Center provides UCSB students with legal advising and education on any matters of concern to the UCSB undergraduates that are not prohibited by its contract. It shall be administered by a standing Committee, which will determine the structure and direction of this service.

Description: Provide oversight and direction to the Legal Resource Center. Hold the main fiscal responsibility and monetary oversight of the LRC. Promote awareness of the availability of the legal services offered by the LRC. Responsible for conducting weekly Board meetings and setting meeting agendas.

» Lobby Corps Openings: 1

Mission:Associated Students Lobby Corps is an organization that strives to unite activism, professionalism, and strategic action planning while implementing local, state-wide, and national campaigns. We initiate, develop, and implement campaigns that alter the relations of power that adversely affect students on the UCSB campus. Lobby Corps strives to instigate change within our current political reality, focusing on protecting the rights of students and fighting against the declining accessibility and quality of higher education. To this end, Lobby Corps will work on issues affecting all students especially those of underrepresented communities. Lobby Corps is an ASUCSB unit that researches and analyzes pending local, state, and national legislation and government programs. The goal of Lobby Corps is to influence legislators and government officials in order to promote student's views on issues that affect students as well as giving students real-world political and organizing experience.

Postion: Communications Director

Description: The Communications Director is primarily responsible for disseminating information throughout the campus, as well as maintaining Lobby Corps' connection and contact with all major Campus, Local, Statewide and National media outlets. They oversee promotion and advertisement of the unit's work and campaigns, as well as general promotion of all of Lobby Corps' activities. Lastly, the Communications Assistant coordinates all outreach and recruitment campaigns, specifically through: presentations in class and to other organizations, tabling, Week of Welcome Activities, and the creation of posters,flyers and signs. Like all officers, they are required to attend all Lobby Corps meetings and quarterly retreats, and are required to hold two (2) regularly scheduled office hours per week or more. The ideal applicant possesses background knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite Applications (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign) and is familiar with concepts relating to Graphic or Layout Design.

» Technology and Media Services Committee Openings: 3

Mission:The Technology and Media Services Committee's (TSC) purpose is to (1) provide recommendations on legislation relating to the purchase of technology and network related requests; (2) have the responsibility and authority to recommend the allocation of computer and network equipment within ASUCSB as seen necessary; (3) initiate research methods to reduce costs and of computer purchases; (4) review and oversee ASUCSB entities' computer and network purchases; (5) review and prioritize all media requests from ASUCSB bodies and Units prior to submitting those requests to Creative Media (6) setting and reviewing ASUCSB media policies and practices (7) oversee all expenditures of the A.S. Marketing budget.

Postion: Chief Technology Officer

Description: As Chief Technology Officer, you are asked to schedule and attend weekly meetings for Tech and Media Services Committee as well as report to AS Senate at least twice a quarter. You would be expected to hold a minimum of three regularly scheduled office hours so that you can assist in the completion fo the budget packet for the following year. You would also attend Chair Council Meetings once per quarter.
