» AS Zero Waste Committee Openings: 1

Mission:The Zero Waste Committee strives to eliminate waste by focusing on five primary objectives: To promote reduction, reuse and recycling of all materials used on the UCSB campus and the surrounding community To promote composting, the use of composted products including organic fertilizer, and to increase the ecological literacy on the UCSB campus and in the surrounding community To promote the buying of recycled and sustainable products on the UCSB campus and in the surrounding community To work closely with other environmental groups throughout the community in efforts to reduce the overall ecological footprint humans have on their local ecosystems To ensure UCSB and the surrounding community uphold all California State Mandated recycling laws The Zero Waste Committee also advises the A.S. Recycling Program so that it may continue to work with the campus and the local community in reaching the goals of the University Office of the President mandated goal of 75% diversion rate by 2012 and 100% diversion rate by 2020.

Description: • Attend every meeting unless an excused absence is obtained. • Takes minutes at every meeting unless an excused absence is obtained. • Attend an official A.S. Agenda & Minute Taking Template Workshop prior to starting the position in the Fall, unless they previously held the position and already attended and completed the workshop. • Compose and send out via email, the Zero Waste Committee’s weekly newsletter after ever meeting. • Send weekly minutes to all necessary email accounts in order to obtain Senate approval.

» Creative Media Openings: 6

Mission:The Creative Media Unit strives to market and promote the work of Associated Students as a whole on a campus-wide level. Uniquely composed of students, staff, and faculty, the unit works together to provide a variety of services, including graphic design, web design, and videography, as well as assist in AS media campaigns.

Postion: Marketing Director

Description: 1) Hold a minimum of one (1) regularly scheduled office hour. 2) Work to develop and enact at least two (2) A.S. wide promotional or marketing campaigns for the academic year. 3) Serve as a resource to assist in the promotion of events or programs hosted by individual A.S. entities.

Description: Videographers are expected to film each weekly episode and ensure proper lighting and sound. Applicants should be comfortable working with multiple camera setup, studio lights, and greenscreen.

» Food Bank Advisory Committee Openings: 7

Mission:The AS Food Bank Committee govern and advises the operation of the AS Food Bank, helps to sustain the stock of the AS Food Bank, and provides additional programming and educational workshops to meet the mission of the AS Food Bank. In order to promote the comfort and moral support of students, the AS Food Bank will be accessible during regular school hours and will respect the confidentiality of its users.

Postion: Chair

Description: 1) Responsible for working with A.S. advisors to manage the operations of the committee office. 2) Promote and expand the services of the A.S. Food Bank. 3) Coordinate on-going donations campaigns such as food-drives, bin-collecting, doorknocking in Isla Vista and Santa Barbara, monetary donations via paypal, etc. 4) Create and sustain long-term relationships with on-campus service departments and administrators, local businesses, donors, and community agencies, and food bank services at universities across the state and nation. 5) Be aware of issues related to food and financial need on campus, locally, nationally and in the University of California system. 6) Act as a reference point for student social services related to food and financial need at UCSB and in the greater Santa Barbara community. 7) Work to educate the campus on issues pertaining to student food and financial need.

Postion: Internal Affairs Coordinator

Description: This position asks that you outreach to at least 3 student organizations per quarter via (informational and/or education) workshops and collaborate with these different on-campus organizations to organize at least 2 donation drives a quarter. You would also be expected to serve as liaison to other campus-based departments and administrators so that you can be aware of food related issues and financial need on the UCSB campus.

Postion: External Affairs Coordinator

Description: As the External Affairs Coordinator of AS Food Bank, you would be required to act as liaison to the many community based food groups (such as SB Food Bank, local food growers, local businesses, etc.) and other food bank services within the UC system and across the United States. While Food Bank considers the local need, you will be concerned, also, the the national and/or global need to end hunger. To do this, you are expected to coordinate at least 2 donations walks per quarter in the community, at least 1 educational workshop a quarter on food nutrition and hunger issues, and work with AS Food Bank staff to assist in fundraising efforts.

Postion: Publicity Coordinator

Description: The Publicity Coordinator is expected to maintain and update the AS Food bank website, social networking sites, and other publicity sources on a weekly basis, as well as be responsible for emailing and outreaching the student body about upcoming Food Bank events. *****You would also be asked to take and compile pictures and accomplishments to ad to outreach materials (including campus newspapers and other media sources). You would work closely with the External Affairs Coordinator to publicize events.

» Legal Resource Center Openings: 1

Mission:The AS Legal Resource Center provides UCSB students with legal advising and education on any matters of concern to the UCSB undergraduates that are not prohibited by its contract. It shall be administered by a standing Committee, which will determine the structure and direction of this service.

» Lobby Corps Openings: 5

Mission:Lobby Corps is an organization that strives to unite activism, professionalism, and strategic planning to advocate for student needs.We strive to represent student interests in political institutions by fighting for student rights, citizen-driven democracy, and affordable, accessible, and quality higher education for all. Lobby Corps seeks to mirror the unique, diverse, and forward thinking nature of the UCSB community, and advocate for student needs – be it in Washington D.C., or Isla Vista. Our unit collaborates with other student organizations in order to educate, assist, and train student leaders so they can achieve the change they wish to see. We research, analyze, and advocate for and against local, state, and national legislation, programs, and policy. The goal of Lobby Corps is to influence legislators and decision-makers in order to craft public policy that reflects our diverse student community’s views and needs, and to give participating students the opportunity to gain political organizing and legislative advocacy experience.

Postion: Scheduling Director

Description: The primary duty of the Scheduling Director is to schedule lobby visits with Legislators throughout the year. The Scheduling Director shall coordinate with the Co-Chairs to set a quarterly Lobby Corps calendar that contains events, lobby visits, meetings, and retreats, and shall maintain a database of the contact information of the offices of elected representatives. Like all officers, they are required to attend all Lobby Corps meetings and quarterly retreats, and are required to hold two (2) regularly scheduled office hours per week or more. The ideal applicant is willing to start over the summer.

Postion: Internal Director

Description: The Internal Director shall be responsible for assisting the Co-Chairs in the operational management of Lobby Corps. This shall include preparing agendas and keeping minutes at each Executive and Regular meeting, managing unit finances and preparing budget requests, working with the Co-Chairs to delegate tasks, presenting regular reports on the status of projects, and communicating with general membership. Like each other Lobby Corps Officer, they are required to hold two (2) regularly scheduled office hours per week, and attend all Lobby Corps meetings and quarterly retreats.

Postion: Communications Director

Description: The Communications Director is primarily responsible for disseminating information throughout the campus, as well as maintaining Lobby Corps' connection and contact with all major Campus, Local, Statewide and National media outlets. They oversee Lobby Corps promotion, advertisement, and marketing activities, as well as general promotion of Lobby Corps' activities. The Communications Director coordinate branding and marketing, including the creation of posters, flyers, and signs, and the maintenance of a web and social media presence. Like all officers, they are required to attend all Lobby Corps meetings and quarterly retreats and are required to hold two (2) regularly scheduled office hours per week or more. The ideal applicant possesses background knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite Applications (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign) and has prior experience managing a brand/organization's social media presence.

Description: The External Director shall be responsible for representing Lobby Corps to external entities, including AS Executive Offices, AS Senate, AS boards, commissions, and units, OSL organizations, as well as to the student body. They shall manage and coordinate all outreach and recruitment campaigns, specifically through class presentations, tabling, and Week of Welcome activities. Like all officers, they are required to attend all Lobby Corps meetings and quarterly retreats and are required to hold two (2) regularly scheduled office hours per week or more. The ideal applicant is outgoing, and will be available to start over Summer Session B.

Mission:SIRRC is a collective effort of students catering to the needs of local and academic communities. Mission:The Technology and Media Services Committee's (TSC) purpose is to (1) provide recommendations on legislation relating to the purchase of technology and network related requests; (2) have the responsibility and authority to recommend the allocation of computer and network equipment within ASUCSB as seen necessary; (3) initiate research methods to reduce costs and of computer purchases; (4) review and oversee ASUCSB entities' computer and network purchases; (5) review and prioritize all media requests from ASUCSB bodies and Units prior to submitting those requests to Creative Media (6) setting and reviewing ASUCSB media policies and practices (7) oversee all expenditures of the A.S. Marketing budget.
