Mission:The Program Review Panel is a campus committee that oversees program reviews of academic departments at UCSB with the goal of assessing and improving academic quality. The committee is composed of ten faculty members, and includes as non-voting representatives one undergraduate student and one graduate student. » Advisory Committee on Faculty and Staff Housing Openings: 0

Mission:The purpose of this committee will be to provide oversight, guidance, and advice to complement all of our efforts to help our faculty and staff colleagues obtain housing, and to communicate with our faculty and staff colleagues. The committee will work with the Chancellorâ??s Advisory Committee on Student Housing to provide comprehensive oversight of the Campus Housing Master Plan. It will oversee current campus projects aimed at increasing housing that can be made available to our faculty and staff members, and it will work with campus planners to seed and cultivate new approaches that will further enhance our efforts.

» AS Womxn's Commission Openings: 5

Mission:The A.S. Womxn’s Commission is an educator and an advocate for womxn’s rights, with a commitment to representing and improving the status of womxn on campus and in the community. The A.S. Womxn’s Commission is working toward becoming a diverse group of members reflecting the different voices of the campus and community. The replacement of the letter "e" for "x" in womxn is meant to maintain gender neutrality and include trans and non gender binary folks. It is also meant to signify female independence and a repudiation of traditions that define females by reference to the male norm.

As Chairs it is your duty to constantly stay in tune with UCSB's ever changing campus climate and use Womxn's Commission as a platform to address any concerns female, femme, and gender non conforming students or community members may have. Chairs should be interested in social justice education, event planning, public speaking, and community building. Logistics: Chairs are responsible for steering the leadership and vision of the commission. Chairs should expect to dedicate a minimum of six hours a week to the commission in the form of: 3 office hours, 1 hour officer strategy meeting, and the weekly 2 hour general body meeting. These stipulations are put into place so the commission can function as a cohesive unit, allowing officers to work collaboratively and properly prepare for each week's meeting with the general campus. In addition, as Chairs it will be mandatory that you report to Senate twice each quarter to inform the board on the quarterly plans and events WomCom is partaking in. Co-Chairs will spearhead planning for annual events such as the Womxn of Color Conference, the Womxn Unite Banquet, etc.

These stipulations are put into place so the commission can function as a cohesive unit, allowing officers to work collaboratively and properly prepare for each week's meeting with the general campus. The duties of the chairs will be split up between a fiscal and secretarial supporting chair. One will be responsible for all duties that regard everyday maintenance such as minute taking, sending out notes, creating email updates, etc. The other is responsible for fiscal duties such as requesting budget updates, maintaining cosponsorship funds, and filing budget requests.

Herstory is the annual magazine WomCom publishes in order to elevate and showcase the talented multimedia female artists UCSB has. As a result, the Hestorian should have a keen interest in art and activism and have prior interest or a commitment to learning Photoshop, InDesign, and other creative platforms that will be necessary for publishing the magazine. The Herstorian should be plugged into creative organizations on campus to collaborate with and is in charge of creating a call for submissions in order to yield a diverse array of artwork.

» AS Zero Waste Committee Openings: 7

Mission:The Zero Waste Committee strives to eliminate waste by focusing on five primary objectives: To promote reduction, reuse and recycling of all materials used on the UCSB campus and the surrounding community To promote composting, the use of composted products including organic fertilizer, and to increase the ecological literacy on the UCSB campus and in the surrounding community To promote the buying of recycled and sustainable products on the UCSB campus and in the surrounding community To work closely with other environmental groups throughout the community in efforts to reduce the overall ecological footprint humans have on their local ecosystems To ensure UCSB and the surrounding community uphold all California State Mandated recycling laws The Zero Waste Committee also advises the A.S. Recycling Program so that it may continue to work with the campus and the local community in reaching the goals of the University Office of the President mandated goal of 75% diversion rate by 2012 and 100% diversion rate by 2020.

Mission:On October 22, 2008, Chancellor Henry Yang announced the members of the innaugural Campus Sustainability Committee. This committee will advise the Chancellor and campus administrators on matters of campus sustainability, make recommendations on sustainability initiatives, help prioritize and monitor the execution and progress of the campus sustainability plan toward our goals, make recommendations on allocations of available funding resources, and provide guidance in the creation and fostering of alliances. Mission:The Commission on Disability Equality (CODE) is dedicated to improving the status of students with temporary or permanent disabilities on campus and in the community. CODE shall outreach, network, and explore ways to increase retention and graduation rates, and promote social, educational, and academic programs regarding the disabled student community. CODE is committed to advocating for disabled students and educating the campus community on the importance of equal access by raising disability issues, interests, and awareness on a local, state, and national level.

Description: The COSWB Co-Chairs schedule and hold meetings that are aware of issues related to mental or physical health locally, nationally, and in the University of California system. These positions also handle public relations for the Commission and is the official spokesperson for the Commission. Co-Chairs of COSWB organizes, with assistance from other members of the Commission, at least one major event per quarter which is open to all students and relates to either physical, mental, or social well being. Description: Assume the duties of the Chairpeople when they are absent or as designated. Assists the Chair with Committee oversight, including tracking office hours and meeting attendance for all committee members. Keep an accurate and unbiased record of all meetings of the Committee on Committees, A.S. Assembly, and Candidate Deliberations. Coordinate the scheduling of all interviews for the Committee on Committees. Work with the Committee to schedule, advertise, and attend interviews of applicants for A.S. Committee positions (when needed) and student representative positions on Academic Senate and Administrative Advisory Committees. Ensure that all Candidates are informed of their acceptance or rejection, and maintain a record of who accepts and who declines. Follow up on all items proposed by the A.S. Assembly and ensure that business is properly completed. Maintain an accurate list of vacant positions on the Committee on Committees website. Work with all the chairs of boards, Committees, and commissions to ensure necessary membership is met. Creates an appropriate questions lists and scoring rubric prior to interviews. Attend all meetings of the Committee on Committees and A.S. Assembly. Fulfill other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Chair.

Description: The Internal Climate Coordinator shall be a proponent of maintaining a comfortable and healthy climate within the Association and help better the skills and experiences of members of A.S. They shall use Restorative Justice to solve conflicts between any persons and groups within the Association in order to create a work place that is tension free and welcoming to all students. The Internal Climate Coordinator shall remain unbiased at all times in order to facilitate more effective discussions and to create no perception of clouded judgment. » Committee on Honoraria Openings: 3

Mission:To oversee the allocation of all A.S. money towards honoraria, except for Legislative Council members honoraria. The Committee on Honoraria shall be responsible for reviewing all honoraria requests through examination of written requests as well as through discussions with chairpersons and members of committees affected. The Committee shall make a recommendation on its findings, and shall make all reporting available for Legislative Council review.

Mission:The Income and Recharge Committee advises the Executive Vice Chancellor on all matters related to rate structures proposed by campus service units for their goods and/or services. Postion: Communications Director

Description: The Communications Director is primarily responsible for disseminating information throughout the campus, as well as maintaining Lobby Corps' connection and contact with all major Campus, Local, Statewide and National media outlets. They oversee promotion and advertisement of the unit's work and campaigns, as well as general promotion of all of Lobby Corps' activities. Lastly, the Communications Assistant coordinates all outreach and recruitment campaigns, specifically through: presentations in class and to other organizations, tabling, Week of Welcome Activities, and the creation of posters,flyers and signs. Like all officers, they are required to attend all Lobby Corps meetings and quarterly retreats, and are required to hold two (2) regularly scheduled office hours per week or more. The ideal applicant possesses background knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite Applications (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign) and is familiar with concepts relating to Graphic or Layout Design.

Mission:The A.S. Public Safety Commission will work to increase the level of safety throughout the Isla Vista and the UCSB campus. The commission will focus on all safety issues concerning the student body as well as increasing student relations and communications with Isla Vista Foot Patrol, California Highway Patrol, UC Police Department, and the Office of Student Life in a positive manner. » Renewable Energy Efficiency Initative Governance Board Openings: 0

Mission:The Student Services Renewable Energy Initiative will enable the campus to undertake a comprehensive, innovative Zero Net Energy (ZNE) initiative that will combine increased energy efficiencies with the use of clean, renewable energies. The project will also achieve the highest level of Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification for most of the Division of Student Affairs buildings. Through the initiative, the campus will: 1) become a leading promoter in the use of ZNE to address significant environmental and economic challenges, 2) significantly reduce use of fossil fuels and carbon emissions, 3) gain greater energy independence, 4) help meet UCSB Climate Action Plan goals for a carbon neutral campus by 2050, and 5) direct a significant proportion of savings generated from this initiative to student services.

Mission:The restorative justice concept, as a complementary means to existing conduct processes of addressing and resolving bias/hate issues and incidents, has been discussed and endorsed by the Advisory Council on Campus Climate, Culture and Inclusion. With the support of the Office of the Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs and the Office of Student Life, I would like to move forward with forming a committee that will help implement and maintain a restorative justice program here at UC Santa Barbara. » Sierra Madre Building Committee Openings: 0

Mission:We are convening a building committee for the Sierra Madre student housing project. This will build 115 apartments for undergraduate students and 36 apartments for faculty and staff rentals. This project was originally planned for a private developer's project, but that proved to be infeasible. As such it has returned as a University project, but is near completion of design. We hope to start construction this coming spring.

Mission:Reviews matters of student conduct and recommends sanctions, if appropriate, to the Chancellor or designee. When requested by a Department, reviews student discipline in academic matters and/or recommends appropriate sanctions. Reviews requests for re-admission of students who have been suspended for disciplinary reasons and recommends to the Chancellor. Registered campus organizations are required to comply with University policies and campus regulations enumerated in Chapters I-IV of the University of California Santa Barbara Campus Regulations Applying to Campus Activities, Organizations, and Students, or they will be subject to sanctions for violation of such policies and regulations. Furthermore, from time to time, there is a need for a representative body to interpret these regulations when disputes regarding their meaning arise. Mission:The charge of the University Center Governance Board will include, but is not limited to, operations decisions, space allocations, budget, personnel, programming, satellite operations, investments, purpose and image, facilities, services, programs, activities, etc. It shall review and have full authority over the operations and development of the Center with respect to any matters involving policy, including short and long term planning for the financial viability of the UCen. The Board shall be involved in all aspects of the budget process and shall approve the annual UCen budget, business plan, and pricing structures. Implementation of policy will be a function of University Center management.
